From high craggy peaks, remote tranquil moorlands and lush green ravines opening out to expanses of awe-inspiring estuaries – Eryri (Snowdonia) has it all. On the 18th of October, this special area will celebrate 70 years since its designation as a National Park, and to mark this special occasion the Park Authority has arranged a variety of events.

CGG has successfully conducted a microplastics pollution survey as part of a scoping study into whether it would be possible to create a Plastic Free zone on Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon).

A peatland restoration project at Bwlch y Groes on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park is the first of its kind in Wales to be completed with the benefit of carbon funding, following validation under the Peatland Code.

Yr Ochr Draw is the culmination of an online creative project by the Ysgwrn and the community of Trawsfynydd. During the last lock down, a group of young people , adults and children of the local primary school collaborated with various artists over Zoom and Meet to create a song and music video.

Last summer saw record visitor numbers across the UK’s tourist attractions as the Covid-19 pandemic resulted in a massive increase in staycations for holiday makers. This included Snowdonia National Park. The resultant rush of visitors caused a number of parking and overcrowding problems, particularly at the main Pen y Pass car park.

The renovation of a 17th Century listed building in Dolgellau, Y Sosban, which incorporated some “rare” roofing methods using Welsh Slate, has won a national award.
Consultation launched on sustainable parking and transport plans for Snowdonia National Park

Yr Wyddfa Partnership is consulting on its draft strategy to improve access and connectivity in the Yr Wyddfa and Ogwen areas of Snowdonia National Park with the support of Transport for Wales. It is inviting local communities and stakeholders to help shape the strategy and potential solutions to address parking issues and encourage more sustainable modes of transport such as walking, cycling and public transport.
Authorities come together once again to close Snowdonia’s car parks
