The Management Plan is the main strategic document for Snowdonia National Park. Although the document is prepared by the National Park Authority, it is a document for all who live, work enjoy and visit Snowdonia.
The purpose of the Management Plan is to bring together all those who shape and influence the National Park. It looks to the future and co-ordinates efforts to ensure that, through sustainable development, the National Park remains deserving of its protected status.
The Authority went out to public consultation on the Draft Management Plan between March 23rd and May the 11th 2009.

If you require a paper copy or on CD, please contact the Authority (contact details below).
In addition to the main document, there are two appendices;
The Authority has also produced a summary document introducing the National Park Management Plan.
State of the Park Report
As part of the work of preparing the Management Plan, the Authority collates data from several sources on relevant topics, such as; tourism and recreation, conservation, transport, housing, employment and environmental conditions, to ensure that actions and objectives contained within the Management Plan remain relevant. In its entirety this data is very substantial. To facilitate the process of monitoring change and development, the Authority prepares the State of the Park Report which includes the primary indicators. It provides a snapshot of the National Park. The report is fully reviewed every 5 years.
Sustainability Appraisal and Strategic Environmental Assessment
To correspond with the Management Plan is the Sustainability Appraisal and a Strategic Environmental Assessment – pursuant to the relevant European directives. The full report, along with the Habitats Regulations Assessment Screening Report can be downloaded from Hyder Consulting's website.
What happens next?
Responses to the consultation on the plan will be considered by the Snowdonia Forum and Authority Members. Following this, an amended version of the Management Plan will be prepared for consideration by Authority Members. Any further changes will be incorporated before the document is finally adopted by the Authority.
Every two years the Action Plan will be reviewed to monitor progress. Then, every five years the Management Plan will be reviewed, to ensure that the content continues to be relevant and responsive to change.
