Archaeology

Snowdonia National Park has a wealth of archaeological remains showing how people have inhabited the area over the last 6,000 years.

One of the primary functions of the Archaeology Section is to keep and maintain a record of the historical sites in the National Park, which provides essential information when monitoring developments in management and conservation in the area.

Part of the record keeping has involved archaeological digs at sites such as Crawcwellt, Trawsfynydd; Tomen y Mur, Trawsfynydd and Bryn y Castell, Ffestiniog.

Staff also give lectures to local and visiting groups and at conferences both at home and abroad.
